April 11, 2011 – Lansing – The Michigan College Access Network and National College Access Network will bring more than 300 college access professionals together on the campus of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, April 13 and 14, to discuss key strategies for increasing and improving college access in Michigan and across the nation.
What: Michigan College Access Network statewide conference

Who: More than 200 participants representing higher education, K12, youth-serving nonprofits, government and philanthropy will attend the Michigan College Access Network statewide conference.

Elizabeth Gutierrez, State Director of Policy, Lumina Foundation for Education, will address how we work together to achieve Michigan’s goal of 60% college attainment by the year 2025
What: National College Access Network mid-west region meeting
When: April 14, 2011
8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
University of Michigan-Dearborn, Fairlane Center
Who: More than 130 participants from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana and Iowa will attend the National College Access Network mid-west regional meeting. This event is a one-day regional meeting focused on policy, advocacy and networks in the college access and success field.
- University of Michigan-Dearborn Chancellor Daniel Little will address Engaging Returning Workers in Higher Education
- Donnell Mersereau, Council of Michigan Foundations, will address funding strategies
- Statewide leaders will discuss how to engage policy-makers in collaborative efforts

About the Michigan College Access Network
Michigan College Access Network works to dramatically increase Michigan’s college participation and completion rates, particularly among low-income and first-generation college students of all ages. The goal of the organization is to increase the proportion of Michigan residents with college degrees and valuable credentials to 60 percent by the year 2025. MCAN supports the work of 33 local college access networks as well as two statewide initiatives include the Michigan College Access Portal and the KnowHow2GOMichigan.org campaign.
