Commitment Scholarship Program Coordinator - Launch Manistee

The Manistee County Community Foundation and Launch Manistee are seeking a part-time (30 hours per week) program coordinator position to lead implementation of the Manistee Commitment Scholarship Program.  The mission of the Manistee Commitment Scholarship Program is to provide financial, academic, and social support for students to be successful in continuing their education after high school. Manistee Commitment Scholars receive a full tuition scholarship for up to three years and/or 60 credits to West Shore Community College.  In addition to scholarship support, ongoing programs and activities to help students be successful on their journey to college will be provided throughout their high school career.  The Manistee Commitment Scholarship Program Coordinator will oversee and evaluate all aspects of the program and work within the program’s mission to develop, coordinate and perform all major tasks of the program.

AmeriCorps VISTA - Capital Area College Access Network

As a VISTA with the Capital Area College Access Network, you’ll help support the College Advising Corps in 8 Lansing high schools to develop programs, events, and materials that promote a college-going culture. You’ll also be instrumental in engaging mentors, volunteers, parents, and students in creating that culture in their schools, organizations, and the community in general. Low-income students, particularly first generation and students of color, have historically lower graduation and college enrollment rates. The VISTA will be vital in the work of CapCAN to improve the post-secondary attainment rate from 47% to 60% by 2025.

College Access Coordinator - Racquet Up Detroit

The organization is currently seeking an experienced educator to fill the full-time salaried role of College Access Coordinator beginning in August/September 2017. Responsibilities and expectations include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and lead all college preparatory and placement efforts including weekly college prep sessions for high school students and ongoing exposure elements for younger RU participants
  • Build and nurture relationships with college admissions offices and college squash coaches
  • Organize all college visits for students in grades 5-12
  • Participate in student/family meetings regarding attendance, attitude, and effort on a regular basis

The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, creative, hard-working, self-starter with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.  Most importantly, candidates must have a passion for working with youth in the city, and a belief that all children can learn and grow if given the proper guidance and support.  Ideal candidate is familiar with private high school admissions and college application process.  Applicant must hold a current driver’s license in good standing.

Adviser, AdviseMI AmeriCorps Program

AdviseMI is now recruiting college graduates (or those who will graduate by May 2017) for its third-year cohort of college advisers. Since 2015, the AdviseMI program has embedded well-trained, dedicated, near-peer college advisers in high schools that serve significant numbers of low-income and first generation college-going students.

Applicants are asked to submit a resume that includes three references, a copy of transcripts and a short essay.
