School Counselor, Connections Academy

Working from our office in Okemos, Michigan, the School Counselor will virtually assist students and parents/learning coaches with course selection, scheduling and will be the initial point of contact for student concerns that span multiple subject areas as well as non-academic issues. The School Counselor will become an expert on course and credit requirements and will work to establish counseling processes for middle and high school students.

College Counselor/Teacher, Detroit Cristo Rey High School

While the College Counselor reports directly to the Principal of the school, he/she works in tandem with the Faculty, the Dean of Students, the Counselor, and the Staff as the lead for promoting the College-Going culture of the school. The professional candidate is responsible for implementing a college-readiness curriculum and providing college access counseling for all of the high school students. The goal of the position is to build and sustain a college-going culture that engages students, parents and higher education partners that results in all students obtaining access to college and high college-enrollment rates for all graduates.

This position is based on campus in Olivet, MI, and requires extensive travel, as well as, evening and weekend work. The successful candidate will be a dynamic person who will increase enrollment in a designated geographic territory.

Advisers, AdviseMI AmeriCorps Program

AdviseMI is now recruiting college graduates (or those who will graduate by May 2018) for its next cohort of college advisers. Applicants may have a Bachelor’s degree in any subject area with a 2016, 2017 or 2018 graduation date. Since 2015, the AdviseMI program has embedded well-trained, dedicated, near-peer college advisers in high schools that serve significant numbers of low-income and first-generation college-going students. 

Applicants are asked to submit a resume that includes three references, a copy of transcripts and a short essay found in the position description.
