COVID-19 Resources for College Access Professionals

The COVID-19 pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus has significantly altered the lives of individuals across the world. As we all adapt to a temporary "new normal," MCAN will continue to provide our network with timely information and support. To that end, we have created this repository of COVID-19 resources for college access and attainment professionals and will continue to update the page regularly. MCAN remains committed to Sixty by 30 and helping all Michigan students attain postsecondary success!

NEW! MCAN COVID-19 Response Grants
As we move forward in this fluid, ever-changing environment, MCAN is offering a new grant opportunity: COVID-19 Response Grants. The grants provide a flexible funding pathway for Michigan high schools, Local College Access Networks, community-based nonprofit organizations, and higher education institutions to support emergent postsecondary projects and programs in their communities.

The U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights released a fact sheet on how to protect students' civil rights and assist education leaders in making distance learning accessible to students with disabilities and in preventing discrimination during this administration-wide response effort.

Fact Sheet: Educational Equity & Coronavirus
The Education Trust—Midwest has compiled a fact sheet with eight specific steps school leaders can explore to help promote instructional equity during this time of school closures. Their website offers additional resources as well. 

Map: Michigan Locations with Free Meals for Children
This interactive map from the Michigan Department of Education is updated twice daily and shares the locations where Michigan students can obtain free breakfast and lunch while school is out of session due to the pandemic. 

Toolkit: Latinx College Students COVID-19 Resources
This toolkit from the Building Bridges Through Education team has created a shared Google folder with resources that can help address the unique needs and challenges of Latinx college students.

ACT Digital Learning and Workforce Resources
ACT has compiled a number of resources for students, teachers, schools, and workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The resources can be used at home, online, and in workforce settings. Content will be updated regularly.

How the Education Field is Responding: A Roundup of COVID-19 Resources
The National College Attainment Network has developed its own robust roundup of COVID-19 resources and will be updating the page on a regular basis.

The Michigan Community College Association has shared helpful resources for the non-academic needs of students in college campus communities.

Michigan COVID-19 Pandemic Resource Guide
The University of Michigan's Poverty Solutions initiative produced an extensive resource guide to help people make sense of the new resources becoming available due to rapidly changing local, state, and federal responses during the pandemic.

Michigan Virtual Learning Continuity Resources
For the duration of Michigan's school closures, Michigan Virtual is offering free digital content from over 70 online learning courses youth can access at home. Educators also have access to a host of online professional development resources.

OneGoal COVID-19 Postsecondary Resources and Tools
This robust Google spreadsheet from OneGoal shares resources for online learning, postsecondary planning, and overall health/wellness. The resources can be utilized by teachers, guidance counselors, students, and parents.

The National Association for College Admission Counseling is providing an online tool as a central resource for information about changes in college admission events, deposit dates, and more as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

New Federal Student Aid Flexibilities for Students, Parents, and Borrowers
Federal Student Aid has created a webpage to inform students, parents, and borrowers about important updates regarding federal student aid in response to COVID-19.
