Chief of Staff
He/Him/His

Tyler serves as the chief of staff for MCAN. In this role, he works on the Executive Leadership team and assists all departments to provide support and thought partnership, and to identify opportunities that can advance MCAN’s strategic plan.

Prior to joining MCAN, Tyler worked at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where he served in a variety of roles. Most recently, he was director of Dearborn Support and the Office of Student Life. Tyler is most proud of his work to create a scholar community for students from the state's most under-resourced school districts. He also helped to successfully launch the Dearborn Support operation, which provides basic needs support to students as they navigate their college experience, helping to ensure that potential barriers don't impede their ability to succeed.

Tyler earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, his Master of Arts from Michigan State University, and his Doctorate of Education from Johns Hopkins University. Tyler is a first-generation college student. While he was growing up, his parents told him they expected him to go to college, even though they didn't know what that meant or entailed. During his educational journey, Tyler decided to pursue a career that would help ensure students like himself from low-income backgrounds could have the opportunity to earn a college degree and achieve personal success.

Outside of work, Tyler enjoys traveling, landscaping, interior design, staying active, enjoying nature, and watching Netflix.
